UCLA UniCamp: Boosting Fundraising Efficiency By $150 More Per Student With Giveffect

2 Mins read

UCLA UniCamp is an independently funded 501(c)3 that annually links 500 UCLA student volunteers with over 1,200 urban LA youth. UCLA UniCamp is the official philanthropy of the Students of UCLA. UniCamp is an independently funded non-profit that connects UCLA with the community.

Each year, UCLA UniCamp inspires over 1,200 children from urban communities to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 450 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp. Because of UniCamp, both volunteers and campers have a chance to: Lead, Play, Learn.

Challenge

As UCLA UniCamp expanded, managing their growing records became a time-consuming challenge. Staff spent excessive time uploading and analyzing data on their CRM system, leading to server issues with the increasing contact records. This challenge became so significant that they resorted to using Excel to manipulate their reports. Additionally, aligning with broader organizational goals, there was a need for a streamlined approach to create and navigate fundraising pages, ensuring ease for donors and backend assessment.

Solutions

By harnessing the power of Giveffect’s comprehensive 10-in-1 integrated system, UCLA UniCamp streamlined the process of importing data, accessing meaningful data for reporting, and optimizing fundraising pages.

Smart Automation to Eliminate Manual Data Entry

UCLA UniCamp leveraged Giveffect’s smart automation technology to automatically log all of their online and offline donations, events and fundraising campaigns and volunteering assignments into their CRM. Now the UCLA UniCamp team no longer spends time manually importing and exporting data from one system to another, significantly reducing the time previously dedicated to these efforts.

The Ease of Fundraising Pages for Online Donations

UCLA UniCamp effectively utilized Giveffect’s customizable campaigns to streamline their online fundraising and volunteer initiatives. This tool simplifies the process for UniCamp supporters, allowing them to undertake diverse actions, such as buying tickets, sponsoring events, participating in auctions, or making donations, all through a single webpage. By adopting this reliable and user-friendly payment solution, UCLA UniCamp seamlessly processes one-time gifts, recurring donations, pledges, and sponsorships. This has led to a notable boost in UniCamp’s overall revenue generation.

“We wanted a system that looked better with more functionality in the backend database. Using Giveffect has made a larger scale impact on our workload for administrative tasks and reporting.”

-Martin Mai, Development Director

Results

In the year before adopting Giveffect, 550 student volunteers managed to raise $268,000. However, in the subsequent year with Giveffect, only 420 volunteers raised nearly the same amount of $267,000. This resulted in an increase of approximately $150 in funds raised per student. With optimized fundraising pages and reduced time spent on manual data entry, UniCamp can now allocate more resources to their mission and goals.
