Name: Belinda Holbrook Current Volunteer Roles: Family Support Committee Chair, ReStore Cashier How long have you volunteered with HFHQC? I started in 1995 when I was asked to be a mentor for a Partner Family. I have continued on the Family Support committee since then. I have also served on the Family Selection committee and Habitat Board. I helped build one house from start to finish. I volunteer weekly at the Habitat ReStore and teach an occasional craft class there. Why do you volunteer with HFHQC? I love that we sell houses with a no interest loan so that low-income families can afford them. I admire the hard work that families do to earn sweat equity. It's important that volunteers work side-by-side with partner families and get to know each other. The ReStore diverts items from the landfill and in doing so raises money for Habitat. What do you do when you are not volunteering with us? I read, quilt, garden, and help with our church's food pantry.
Thank you Belinda for sharing your time and talents with us! |
