General Volunteer Job Description

JOB AREAS:

Apparel Assistant; Donations Receiver; Sales Floor Merchandiser

PURPOSE:

Assists the receiving department in cleaning of all donated items that are for sale.  Takes ticketed items to sales floor of the ReStore for display in their proper departments.  Assists customers on sales floor when needed.  

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:

 Assistant ReStore Manager/Manager

DUTIES:

• Greet the customers and donors

• Help maintain the organization and cleanliness of merchandise, the floors, lounge, bathrooms and outside areas

• Assist receiving department with the cleaning of incoming donations

• Assist receiving department with tracking daily incoming donations

• Be aware of any safety hazards and obtain assistance to correct the hazard

• Assist customers with any pricing questions or location of merchandise; refer to ReStore policies on all unpriced items

• Answer customers’ questions, and be well informed of current ReStore policies and procedures regarding loading merchandise, drop-off donations and scheduling donation pickup

• Bag, box, wrap, load, or remove merchandise from shelf for customer as required

• Assist in the testing of small appliances prior to display on the sales floor as directed by supervisor.  This includes, but is not limited to, lamps, toasters, can openers, and other small household appliances

• Assist in moving heavier merchandise to front door for customer loading

• Keep apparel sorted according to store layout (size/color/style/etc.)

• Follow acceptable donation guidelines and have a complete understanding of ReStore merchandise and operations

• All other duties as assigned
